Hello

I'm Abbie Kaiser, the founder and head trainer at Kaiser Canine Academy. I have a background in education and psychology, as well as  extensive experience handling and training dogs.

In 2022, I completed my formal education in dog training and graduated from Penn Foster's Career Certification program for dog trainers. Since 2018, I have acquired countless hours in practice of proper dog handling and training while working as a pet care professional in Philadelphia.

I aspire to stay up to date and in practice of the most recent, science backed methods of dog training, for a variety of training types, most recently working in partnership with Mountaineer K9 Services to assist in training working dogs in a variety of skills including protection, bite sports, and more. Currently, I am continuing my education while I pursue my Veterinarian Technician associates degree.

The Story of Kaiser Canine Academy

"Soul Dog": The canine companion intricately connected to our very essence, understanding us more profoundly than we comprehend ourselves. Their imprint lingers eternally in our hearts, persisting even when they are no longer physically present. In harmonious synchrony, they elevate dog ownership to an effortless art.

For Abbie, this cherished 'soul dog' is Bonnie.

Bonnie serves as the driving force behind Kaiser Canine Academy. Abbie welcomed Bonnie into her life during her senior year of college. The plan was for Bonnie was clear: serve as an ESA, helping Abbie navigate through depression; and work as a child therapy dog, assisting Abbie in her future career as a special education teacher. The first part unfolded seamlessly, as it turned out, and Bonnie was the true rescuer in this tale, helping Abbie get back on track and graduate college.

However, Bonnie initially displayed reactivity issues and did not respond well to children. These challenges threw a wrench into Abbie's plans for Bonnie, but she didn't let it deter her for long. Determined to overcome these obstacles, Abbie embarked on a journey of training Bonnie, diligently addressing her reactivity and immersing herself in the nuances of dog training. Over time, Bonnie learned to manage her emotions, overcoming issues such as reacting to other dogs on a leash and displaying discomfort with strangers entering the house. Abbie's persistent efforts resulted in a significant reduction in Bonnie's negative reactions towards children.

The success of this transformative process made Abbie realize her true calling. Drawing from her background in learning psychology and education, she recognized the parallels between teaching children and training dogs. After all, the essence of effective teaching remains fundamentally similar, regardless of the species being taught.

So, Abbie dove headfirst into her passion.

Over the course of five years in Philadelphia, she walked dogs, volunteered at various dog training facilities, enrolled in classes, earned certifications, devoured seemingly every book ever written about dogs, and collaborated with fellow trainers to refine her skills.

Today, Abbie and Bonnie call South Charleston, WV, home, accompanied by their new furry companions - Pippin, Dunkin, and Suki.

Abbie's vision for Kaiser Canine Academy is to flourish in the same community where she grew up, aiming to introduce more individuals to the rewards and successes of fear-free training. With boundless dedication and unwavering passion, Abbie continues to pave the way for a brighter future in dog training and education, driven by her profound connection with her beloved 'soul dog,' Bonnie."
